Child Support & Spousal Support

CHILD SUPPORT:

Each parent has a legal obligation to provide financial support for their children. Child support is money paid by both parents to meet their childrens' living and medical expenses.

The Court may order either or both parents to make regular child support payments to cover the child/childrens' living and medical expenses. A child support order will normally include a parent to provide health insurance for the child. In addition to child support, the Court may also order payment for expenses like child care costs, doctor/dental bills not otherwise covered by available health insurance, as well as transportation and other expenses.

The Court sets the amount of child support based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, the gross income of the parents, the number of children, and the amount of time the non-custodial parent spends with the children/child.

SPOUSAL SUPPORT:

Courts have discretion to either award/order spousal support, deny a spousal support request and/or limit the amount and duration of any spousal support award/order.

Therefore, it is imperative for each party to address their respective financial needs and obligations.  Robert L. Gigliotti provides clients with a focused and detailed legal analysis pertaining to their rights and obligations regarding all support issues.
